Head of Business Development and Operations of Patvocates Research

Patvocates is looking for a Head of Business Development and Operations Patvocates Research of our patient-driven think tank and social enterprise Patvocates.

  • Reporting to: Executive Director Patvocates Research
  • Location: Munich
  • 30 travel days per year
  • Contract: Full-time / permanent
  • Salary: 55.000 EUR/year gross salary plus max 5.000 EUR/year performance-based bonus

Patvocates, the patient-driven think tank and social enterprise on patient advocacy, intends to build its new business unit “Patvocates Research”, a strategy and delivery unit focusing on evidence generation to empower the patient community in the area of evidence based patient advocacy. To develop and operationalize this new social business, Patvocates is looking for a strong, delivery driven Head of Business Development and Operations Patvocates Research with the following tasks and core responsibilities (non-exhaustive and subject to change depending on needs of Patvocates Research):

Business development and strategic support for the Patvocates Research Business unit

  • Draft strategies, operating models and processes
  • Draft and implement annual funding strategies and business plan in line with Patvocates Research strategic plan and objectives
  • Draft communication strategy
  • Generate project proposals to potential sponsors and clients, and close leads with those

Project Management and Delivery

  • Manage client contracts, project implementation and project finances (budgets, invoicing, payments)
  • Plan, manage and deliver successful projects for clients
  • Supervise, monitor, report and discuss progress and performance of projects
  • Ensure that projects deliver within committed milestones, time frames, deadlines, budget and with adequate profit margin
  • Manage team members, external consultants and vendors related to the project, as required
  • Coordinate internal and external project meetings (virtual and face-to-face), including also venue, travel and logistics if required

Operational support of the Patvocates Research business unit

  • Oversee and ensure compliance and development of internal policies
  • Implementing effective processes and standard operating procedures
  • Oversee and ensure compliance related to legal and health and safety requirements of the organisation
  • Ensure the team is working effectively including IT, hardware, software, web-based services, workspace and processes ensuring effective and efficient utilisation and equipment
  • Map, recruit, coordinate, contract and involve clients, external partners, consultants and suppliers

Other responsibilities

  • Contribute to other areas of Patvocates Research or Patvocates, as required
  • Build good relations with the patient community and external stakeholders (including researchers, external consultants, vendors, pharmaceutical companies)
  • Represent Patvocates Research at meetings and scientific congresses, as required

About You:

  • University degree in relevant area
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field – preferably working in a non-profit organisation, clinical research or medical/scientific setting
  • Experience in delivering work on time and within budget
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving and delivery skills
  • Very advanced English (C2), written and spoken (German language skills are not required)
  • Experience as a patient or caregiver with a serious health condition is helpful, even though not required
  • Knowledge/experience in working with non-profit organisations, preferably in the field of healthcare
  • High-level ability to use electronic office and Online tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoints, Google Docs, Email, Telegram, Trello, Toggl)
  • Ability to be pro-active, flexible, self-driven and work independently from both the home office and our Munich office, within tight deadlines
  • Experience and determination of collaborative, team-oriented working in a virtual environment (with a team distributed across Europe)
  • Experience in supervising the work of external contractors and vendors
  • Commitment to patient-centered healthcare and the core values of patient-led organizations
  • Availability to travel
