Junior Legal Officer

Patvocates is a Germany-based, patient-driven, not-only-for-profit consultancy, acting in the triangle of patient advocacy, health policy and medicines research and development. It is a social enterprise that also donates a proportion of its revenue to capacity building and education initiatives of the patient community.

We are looking for an engaged Junior Legal Officer to drive forward our exciting projects in patient engagement.

  • Full time / 1-year contract (potential extension to a permanent contract)
  • Working language is English.
  • Travel up to 30 days a year.
  • Home based in Spain.
  • Gross salary: 30.000 EUR/year.

The Junior Legal Officer will have the following tasks and responsibilities.

 

Tasks:

  • Provide support to the Senior Legal & Compliance Manager in drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal agreements of the company and its internal clients in the area of patient engagement.
  • Search for legal advice where needed.
  • Carry out research in the area of legal and compliance that affect patient engagement and patient advocacy.
  • Monitor the applicable laws and stay up to date on legal changes.
  • Assist the Senior Legal & Compliance Manager with the development, implementation and update of the company’s legal templates and processes.
  • Provide support to the Senior Legal & Compliance Manager in managing the development, implementation and updating of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that the company’s legal templates and processes, as well as the internal compliance policies and procedures are appropriately stored.
  • Assist in developing PPT presentations on legal and compliance matters.
  • Assist the Senior Legal & Compliance Manager and Project Managers to plan, manage and deliver successful legal and compliance projects / tasks for clients, including by providing support in e.g., content development, report writing, budgeting, coordination, administration, logistics of meetings (virtual and face-to-face).
  • Assist in preparing proposals and project budgets and supervise progress on legal and compliance projects.
  • Provide support with legal and compliance projects acquisition and client management.
  • Assist to coordinate, contract and involve external partners, consultants and suppliers on legal and compliance projects.
  • Monitor and make sure legal and compliance projects adhere to milestones and deadlines, report on progress.
  • Follow up proactively on all legal and compliance projects – and team – related open actions, tasks and urgent priorities, make sure that follow-up happens.
  • Assist in coordinating and implementing communication with clients on legal and compliance projects, including preparing interim progress reports and updates both to the client and well as to the Patvocates team.
  • Assist in moderating trainings, focus groups, workshops and other types of meetings on legal and compliance projects.
  • Monitor correspondence with team members of clients, suppliers and the Patvocates team on legal and compliance projects / matters.
  • Help to develop, present and pitch legal and compliance projects to clients.
  • Assist the Senior Legal & Compliance Manager with any other contractual, compliance or corporate legal matters of the company and its internal clients as needed.
  • Report regularly to the Senior Legal and Compliance Manager.

 

Required experience and skills:

  • University degree in law.
  • No minimum professional experience required.
  • Experience in delivering work on time.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Very advanced English (C2), written and spoken.
  • Professional skills in developing and holding PPT presentations.
  • High-level ability to use electronic office and online tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Email, Telegram, ChatGPT).
  • Ability to be pro-active, flexible, self-driven and work independently from home office and our Munich office (if needed), within tight deadlines.
  • Experience of collaborative working in a virtual environment (with a team distributed across Europe).
  • Commitment to patient-centred healthcare and the core values of patient-led organizations.
  • Availability to travel 30 days per year.

 

Knowledge, interests and skills we would welcome (desirable but not required):

  • Knowledge and interest in EU law.
  • Knowledge and interest in contractual law.
  • Knowledge or willingness to study GDPR obligations for the company and NGO’s we provide services to.
  • Knowledge of the European healthcare ecosystem.
  • Knowledge/experience in working with pharmaceutical companies, preferably in the field of patient engagement and patient advocacy.
  • Knowledge/experience in working either in the non-profit sector, in a health-related consultancy or in patient advocacy.
  • Knowledge of additional languages.

  • Full-time position (40h/week), giving the opportunity to progress and to integrate in a young, dynamic and multi-cultural team working from different European cities.
  • 1-year contract with a 6-month probation period under Spanish law. A permanent contract after 1 year.
